New Endangered Species Design
19 Oct, 2015
The HOODED PLOVER is a lovely little beach nesting bird & I was fortunate enough to catch glimpses of a few down on Victoria's wilderness coast on a recent camping holiday. They are now in breeding season & very vulnerable from disturbance by people and dogs on beaches. Efforts have been made to assist them with protective fencing and breeding boxes. All donations from sales will go to Birdlife Australia's Beach-nesting Birds Project.

I'm often asked about the process. It's literally one colour at a time, applied by screens with handcut stencils, using meticulous registration by eye.
Final touch on this design - SPINIFEX PIGEON - is the white eye dot - using a tiny paintbrush.
SPINIFEX PIGEON - A New Design, June 2015
Earlier this year, KARIJINI NATIONAL PARK in the Pilbara WA asked me to create a design for them featuring the handsome SPINIFEX PIGEON - in particular, the sub-species found in the Pilbara region (Geophaps plumifera sub-species ferruginea).
I took one look at this elaborately crested, beautifully coloured bird and said a big yes! Karijini NP's design has relevant text added and a wonderful aboriginal saying regarding looking after country on the back of the shirt.
I created a slightly different version, with footprints, to add to my Adult's and Ladies Fitted T-shirt ranges. There's also a Cushion Cover.

An interesting find...
An interesting email from a customer who purchased our RED-TAILED TROPICBIRD design...
The tee shirt arrived yesterday and is just what we want thanks. The RT tropic bird is significant because we were on a campout at Abrolhos Islands off Geraldton WA, found the red streamer feathers of this bird plus 1 skeleton with an amazing red bill. They sometimes breed on the islands but this bird was a victim of an Osprey or a White-bellied Sea Eagle."
